Abstract

This study investigates the socio-economic impact of technological innovation on employment patterns and job security in Anambra State, Nigeria. Employing a descriptive survey research design, data was collected from a sample of 400 respondents representing various sectors of the Anambra State labor market. A structured questionnaire with both closed and open-ended questions was utilized, validated through content and face validation, and tested for reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics to summarize findings and inferential statistics including Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression analysis to test hypotheses. Results revealed a strong positive correlation between technological innovation and both employment patterns and job security, indicating significant socio-economic implications of technological advancement in the region. The study concludes that while technological innovation offers opportunities for economic growth, it also poses challenges such as job displacement and skill mismatches. The paper recommends that Anambra State government should explore diversification strategies to reduce reliance on sectors vulnerable to technological disruption. This could involve promoting industries with high growth potential, such as renewable energy, healthcare, and tourism.
